Ian Soenen and his classmates attended the match between Club Brugge and Sporting Lisbon as stewards for their internship. They helped the official stewards manage the crowd. Before the game started, Ian and his team checked fans at the entrances to ensure no banned items were brought into the stadium. During the match, Ian worked in section 315, where he watched the supporters and helped keep order. It was an exciting and challenging experience for him.

Around the 20th minute of the match, Ian Soenen saw something like a bomb thrown in his section. He went closer to see it, but then a big explosion happened, and he was knocked out. When he woke up, he felt scared and confused. This scary experience showed how dangerous it can be for stewards trying to keep everyone safe at events.

Ian got help from the Red Cross, the fire department, and his classmates after the explosion. “I woke up with a lot of headaches,” he said. He didn’t get more hearing damage, but he already had some. A Portuguese fan is said to have thrown the bomb, and Ian plans to report it to the police. He warned that bombs and fireworks are dangerous and can cause serious burns. “This is not okay,” he said.
