Brussels (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Sinterklaas, with bpost, collects letters from children across Belgium via the travelling Sinterklaas Safe (Nov 7–end Nov) and the secretariat, ensuring replies by Dec 15, 2025.

As VRT News reported, Sinterklaas is once again working with bpost to receive thousands of letters from children across Belgium. From November 7, 2025, until the end of the month, the Sinterklaas Safe, a mailbox, will travel to different cities, including Charleroi and Bruges. Children can drop letters, drawings, or messages into the safe. Each submission will be collected so that Sinterklaas can read and respond.

How is Sinterklaas collecting thousands of letters in Belgium this year?

Parents and guardians can check the bpost website to see when the Sinterklaas Safe will stop near their home. Officials mentioned that by travelling through multiple locations, bpost makes it easy for children to send their messages to Sinterklaas.

Alongside the travelling Sinterklaas Safe, the traditional Sinterklaas secretariat will stay active this year. Children who cannot visit the magical mailbox in person can still send their letters or drawings. Letters can be mailed directly to Sinterklaas, Spanjestraat 1, 0612 Hemel.

Officials mentioned that a postage stamp is not needed. Children only need to write a clear return address on their letter. bpost will make sure that every child receives a reply from Sinterklaas by December 15th, 2025.

Similar events have taken place in Belgium in previous years as part of the Sinterklaas tradition. Every year, bpost helps collect letters from children and ensures that Sinterklaas can reply. The Sinterklaas Safe has been used in recent years to travel through different cities, allowing children to post letters and drawings in person. At the same time, the Sinterklaas secretariat handles letters sent by mail and guarantees that responses reach children before December 6. In 2023, the mailbox visited more than 10 cities, and thousands of letters were collected and answered. This yearly initiative has become a popular tradition.
