Kyiv (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – A large Russian drone strike late Friday resulted in four fatalities and 19 injuries in Dnipro, southeastern Ukraine, according to the regional governor. The attack ignited significant fires in a hotel, restaurant complex, and nearby structures.
Serhiy Lysak, governor of the surrounding Dnipropetrovsk region, said that A high-rise apartment building and almost 10 individual homes were engulfed in flames. Firefighting crews successfully contained the blaze at the hotel complex.
In a prior update, Lysak indicated that the casualty count is expected to increase, noting that three of the injured are in serious condition.
“It is now known that the enemy launched over 20 drones at the city,”
Lysak stated on Telegram.
“The majority of them were intercepted.”
Images and videos shared online captured flames and thick columns of smoke rising into the sky. Additional footage revealed the wrecked interior of a building, the severely damaged upper floors of a high-rise apartment, and streets littered with shattered glass and debris.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that Russia deployed 147 drones over Ukraine overnight. Ukrainian air defenses intercepted 97 of these drones, and 25 failed to reach their targets due to effective Ukrainian countermeasures. The attacks affected various regions, including Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, Odesa, and Donetsk, as well as the capital city, Kyiv.
According to the city’s military administration, a drone attack on Kyiv resulted in the deaths of three individuals, including a 5-year-old child, and injured 10 others.
