A fire broke out in a four-story apartment building starting in the gutter and quickly spreading to the roof. The flames grew fast and impacted the top-floor apartments. It has been said that the situation became serious with the fire’s starting point and spread putting both the building’s safety and the people living there at great risk. When the fire department arrived they acted quickly and effectively. A spokesperson Walter Derieuw said that the residents were evacuated right away as part of the emergency response. This quick action was very important to keep everyone in the building safe and to avoid any injuries or deaths.
What were the impacts and response to the recent apartment fire?
No one was hurt in the fire. However, the fire brigade helped two people at the scene who had mild smoke inhalation. It has been said that the response was good and there were no serious health problems among the residents. The clean-up and putting out the fire took a lot of time and effort. Fire department spokesman Walter Derieuw said that their work wasn’t finished until 8:30 PM. This long response shows how difficult it was to handle everything after the fire and make sure all the remains of the fire were completely dealt with.
The fire caused a lot of damage to the building including part of the roof being taken down. As a result, four apartments can’t be lived in two because of fire damage and two because of water damage. The social housing company Molenbeekse Haard has temporarily moved the residents affected by the fire to other places while the repairs and restoration are happening. To keep everyone safe and avoid more problems the Brussels police set up a security area around the building while they worked. This was done to control who could enter the affected area protect the work being done and ensure the safety of both the residents and the emergency workers.
