Rome (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Pope Francis, 88 years old, has been in a Rome hospital for 2 weeks with pneumonia. The Vatican says he had a quiet night and is improving, but doctors continue to monitor his health closely.

Pope Francis 88 years old, is still in the hospital in Rome. He was admitted because of bronchitis, which got worse and turned into pneumonia in both lungs. His health worsened when he had trouble breathing after vomiting on February 28.

Doctors helped him breathe better by using a machine. The Vatican says he’s doing better now, but they’re still watching him closely because his health is complicated.

Will Pope Francis recover soon and continue his duties?

On March 1, 2025, the Vatican said he had a good night and was resting. He’s been able to do some of his work while he’s been in the hospital. Doctors are monitoring him closely because he’s older and gets lung infections easily. Officials mentioned that people around the world are praying for him to get better.

Pope Francis is in the hospital for the 4th time since he became Pope in 2013. This is his longest stay yet. In 2021 and 2023, he also underwent stomach surgery. He also suffers from lung conditions including bronchitis and pneumonia. Because he has been ill a lot, doctors are concerned about his health. He makes an effort to carry out his duties as Pope despite his poor health.
