Police Apprehend Suspect After Multiple Reports of Inappropriate Behavior in Ghent

Ghent: (Brussels Morning) In Ghent a person accused of inappropriate behavior near a playground was caught by police after two reports. The suspect is in custody for questioning and further investigation.

In Ghent, a person accused of showing inappropriate behavior was caught after two reports were made to the police today. Langeraert the police spokesperson, explained “We got the first report in the afternoon about a suspicious person near a playground in Mariakerke. Even though we acted quickly the man managed to escape when we searched for him initially.

How Police Respond to Missing Person Reports in Ghent?

Matto Langeraert from the police said that they got a call around noon about a missing person. They quickly sent search teams to look in the area described and checked thoroughly based on the given details. Even with all their efforts at the start they couldn’t find the person.

Later, around 2 p.m. they got another report about seeing someone who looked like the missing person. The police then shifted their attention to this new location. With a focused effort and good coordination they quickly found and confirmed the person’s identity making sure they were safe and addressing the initial concern.

Langeraert from the police said they couldn’t share specific details about the incident due to ongoing investigations. After the second report at 2 p.m. they found the person matching the description and took them in for questioning. Langeraert stressed that they can’t give more details about the incident now. The person found was taken in for questioning to gather more information and understand the situation better which is a standard procedure.
