Lint (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – The AED Theater opens April 1, 2026, at AD Studios, Lint, with a 600–800-seat stage. The first major show on May 29, 2026, is Next to Normal by Kade Productions, starring Ann Van den Brock and Jan Schepens.

As VRT News reported, a new theatre will open at AD Studios in Lint, in the province of Antwerp, Belgium, on Wednesday, April 1, 2026. The venue is located in a former film studio. Bart Vandersmissen, founder of Banann Theatre and Kade Productions, said,

“We are building a real theatre here, with a stage, grandstand seating, and a curtain.”

Vandersmissen explained that the theatre will feature both local productions and touring performances.

What will the new AED Theatre in Lint offer with its 600–800-seat capacity?

The AED Theater in Lint has a stage and grandstand that can be fully adapted. This allows the theatre to host many different types of performances, including plays, musicals, and concerts. The seating and stage can be adjusted to fit each show.

According to Vandersmissen,

“The theater’s strength lies in its flexibility. Our grandstand has a standard seating capacity of 600 and can be expanded to 800.”

“In addition, the grandstand layout will also be flexible. It can’t be moved during the performance, but we can adjust the layout. This allows the performance organiser to arrange the hall as desired.”

The first major production at the AED Theatre will open on May 29, 2026. Kade Productions will present the musical Next to Normal, which focuses on mental health and emotional well-being. The cast includes well-known performers Ann Van den Brock and Jan Schepens.

The AED Theatre in Lint is part of an increasing trend of transforming previously used buildings into cultural venues. Building conversions have occurred in Belgium before Lint, including the conversion of the former factory STUK (Leuven) into a performing arts center and theatre in 1981; the conversion of the former Flagey building (Brussels) from a broadcasting centre to a concert hall; and also Het Paleis (Antwerp), which originally started as a fine arts palace in the 30’s but has now been updated to contain theatre facilities.
