Moerbeke (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Moerbeke residents near Coudenbormbrug by the Moervaart have waited 3 years for benches and a picnic table to be restored after water trucks damaged them. They are protesting with QR-code signs to pressure the city council.

This weekend, people in Moerbeke are putting signs around the area by the Moervaart. The signs have QR codes that let people send an email to the city council asking them to put the benches and picnic table back. They want to get as many people to send emails as possible so the city council will listen.

According to the city council, they needed to go to the area to see how to put the benches and picnic table back, but they didn’t say when they would do it. People are worried that it will take even longer now. They want to keep asking the city council until the area is fixed.

Will Moerbeke restore benches and picnic tables at Moervaart?

People in Moerbeke have been waiting for almost 3 years for the benches and picnic table to be put back near Coudenborm by the Moervaart. They feel the town council has ignored them, and said that even though these places are important for people to get together and have fun.

They are frustrated that there is no place to sit by the Moervaart anymore, especially because they used to enjoy picnics and spending time there. Now, some people are protesting to get the town to fix the problem.

They just want the seating to be back so that everyone can enjoy the area. Residents said that spring is coming and they think it’s a good time to remind the town that they want these resting places back.

“Soon we will be 3 years further. The rubble has been cleared away, but that was it”,

The residents say.

“The area around Coudenborm is one of the most beautiful spots in Moerbeke. Many people come to enjoy this area.”

The problem started last summer when the water in the Moervaart was taken out for farmers and gardeners. This happened at the Coudenbormbrug bridge, where companies with permission from De Vlaamse Waterweg were allowed to take water.

According to officials, the big trucks that came to take the water damaged the bridge and the benches. The picnic table was also taken away, leaving no place for people to sit.
