Brussels (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – MIVB will reinforce metro line 6 next Sunday, May 4, 2025, for the cup final, with 40,000 fans expected. Anderlecht use Houba-Brugmann, Club Brugge use Heizel. The station entrances will be closed in the afternoon.

Metro line 6 will run extra trains from noon until the end of the service day for the football match at the King Baudouin Stadium this Sunday, May 4, 2025, to make sure fans can travel easily to and from the venue. They’re also giving specific travel advice to fans to help with the flow.

Officials mentioned that Anderlecht fans should get off at Houba-Brugmann station, while Club Brugge fans should use Heizel station. It will start at noon, and some entrances to metro stations will close to control the crowds. At Heizel station, entrances 1 and 5 on Keizerin Charlottelaan will be shut. At Koning Boudewijn station, entrance 2 on Amandelbomenlaan will be closed to the public.

How will MIVB and the police manage 40,000 fans on match day?

According to the officials, as the day goes on and more people arrive, more rules will start at 7:30 PM. Koning Boudewijn Station will close completely. At Houba-Brugmann station, entrance 1 on Houba de Strooperlaan will also close.

By planning transport and closing some entrances in stages, officials want to make sure everyone gets to and from the game safely and easily. They mentioned that everyone should follow the instructions, come early, and watch for signs and announcements all day.

For people travelling to the King Baudouin Stadium by tram or bus, there are a few choices with the MIVB (public transport in Brussels). Numerous tram lines have stops near the stadium: lines 7, 9, 51, and 93 all have the same tram stop called Stadion, close to the stadium.

Tram line 7 offers extra flexibility, as it also stops at Eeuwfeest and Heizel, both within walking distance of the stadium. However, tram line 9 will not operate between Stadion and Koning Boudewijn from 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, likely due to traffic rules or crowd control around the stadium.

To get to the stadium, people can use bus line 83. It will run all day, but it will take a different route along Romeinsesteenweg. It won’t stop at the usual stops between De Hen and Paleis 12. If people take this bus, get off at the Panorama stop instead. This stop is on the new route and is still close to the stadium. The MIVB suggests using public transport instead of driving.
