The search for a 61-year-old woman from Koolkerke ended this morning on 3 January, when a dead body was found in the water. Last time, she had been celebrating New Year’s Eve at café Santa Cruz in Sint-Kruis, near Bruges. 

How did a missing 61-year-old Woman end up dead in Bruges?

This morning, on 3 January, a body was found in the water near Sasplein, close to the Dampoort in Bruges. Walkers in the area spotted the body and quickly called emergency services. Police and firefighters arrived to recover it and soon confirmed that it was the missing 61-year-old woman from Koolkerke. This discovery leaves her family, friends, and the local community in sorrow.

The details surrounding her disappearance are under investigation by authorities. They are working to determine how she ended up in the water after leaving a café on New Year’s Day. This incident has impacted the community, which was in the New Year celebrations. The investigation continues as the city of Bruges addresses the loss of a resident under these circumstances.
