Sint-Niklaas (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – The Middenstip Sports Pavilion at Sportkringpark, Sint-Niklaas, opened in September 2025. FC Sint-Niklaas, OLVP school, and the community can use the fields. Officials Peter Buysrogge and Ghizlane Benabdellah confirmed public rentals from November 1st, 2025.

As VRT News reported, the Middenstip Sports Pavilion at Sportkringpark in Sint-Niklaas has officially opened. The new facility gives FC Sint-Niklaas a modern base for training and matches. Teams have been using the artificial turf pitch since the start of the season. The pavilion has many facilities for players and staff. It includes a canteen, seven changing rooms, a first aid room, restrooms, and storage space for equipment.

“We’ve had a good start to the season and are eager to grow steadily with the club,”

Says chairman Herwig Hanssen.

“We’re very pleased with this excellent infrastructure that gives us this opportunity, and supporters can now also enjoy the new stand.”

What facilities are available at the new Middenstip sports pavilion in Sint-Niklaas?

The Middenstip Sports Pavilion and its surrounding facilities at Sportkringpark will be available for public rental starting November 1st, 2025, city officials said. Alderman for Finance Peter Buysrogge (N-VA) and Alderman for Sports Ghizlane Benabdellah (Vooruit) confirmed that the football fields and changing rooms will be rented at the same rates as other municipal sports centres.

At the front of Sportkringpark, the 3 small artificial turf fields are currently rented by the OLVP school. The school uses them for physical education and sports programs. Starting this fall, these fields will be open to the public.

The park is being incrementally expanded and is anticipated to become an important venue for local sports events. Officials say that school sports days will take place at the park, where students can swim in the new pool that will anchor the site, and then have access to sports fields for such sports as football and athletics, and just about anything else.

The development of Sportkringpark in Sint-Niklaas started in October 2023. The goal was to turn the old Puyenbekestadion site into a modern sports complex. The first major facility, the Middenstip Sports Pavilion, opened in September 2025.

It offers state-of-the-art facilities for FC Sint-Niklaas and the wider community. The next addition, Zwembad De Watermolen, is planned to open in early 2026. The swimming pool will include an Olympic-sized pool and several recreational features.
