Leuven: (Brussels Morning) At the Rock Werchter festival the Leuven Police conducted inspections to ensure taxi services followed regulations and provided safe reliable transportation for festival-goers. They found and addressed issues like invalid licenses, improper permits and safety violations.

After the Rock Werchter festival lots of people head to the station in Leuven for transportation and there’s a big need for taxis. Chief inspector Mathieu Caudron mentioned that many taxi drivers come to that area because of the high demand from festival-goers. The inspection was done to make sure taxis are safe and reliable for festival-goers. While most drivers follow the rules the inspection was to catch and stop those who take advantage of the high demand. These dishonest drivers might charge too much work without the right licenses or use unregistered cars.

What Measures Did the Leuven Police Take to Ensure Safe and Reliable Taxi Services During the Rock Werchter Festival?

At the big music festival Rock Werchter in Belgium lots of people come to Leuven. Many drive there which means more cars in the city. At the Rock Werchter festival the Chief Inspector Mathieu Caudron mentioned that some of these drivers don’t follow taxi rules. Chief Inspector Mathieu Caudron said some drivers didn’t show their license or fare card in their cars which is needed for transparency and passenger trust. One driver had an invalid driver’s pass so they couldn’t legally drive a taxi. These rule violations go against the system meant to keep taxi services safe and reliable. After more checks it was found that three drivers l,didn’t have valid driving certificates. These certificates show if a driver is ,medically and mentally fit to drive safely. Since their certificates were expired these drivers needed medical check-ups to prove they could still drive. The police taking these actions is important to keep safety standards high especially during big events like Rock Werchter when there are lots of people needing taxis.

The police checked everything closely. They found a driver who should have worn glasses according to his license but wasn’t. Also four taxi drivers picked up passengers where they weren’t allowed. Caudron mentioned that only drivers with a specific permit can wait at taxi ranks. Street taxis need a different permit and must stay at least 200 meters away from those ranks.
