Lanaken (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – A teen without a license led police on a dangerous chase in Lanaken after a BOB check. He broke 23 traffic rules and now faces charges before a juvenile judge.

As VRT News reported, during a traffic check for designated drivers in Lanaken on Friday, Aug 1, 2025, police saw a teenager riding a motorcycle very fast without a license plate. When they tried to stop him, he sped off, and a dangerous chase began through the town.

They mentioned that the teenager rode in a very unsafe way and even tried to hit a police motorcyclist during the chase. Police said he broke at least 23 traffic rules while fleeing. He was driving too fast, ran through red lights, passed other vehicles in a risky way, and put both officers and other people in danger.

How did a teen without a license trigger a high-speed chase in Lanaken?

The teenager crashed his motorcycle at the end of the chase but kept running. Police searched the area and found out that a driver had picked him up. Officers quickly stopped the car and arrested both the teenager and the driver.

The teenager is now facing serious charges. He is accused of trying to hit a police officer, running from the police, and breaking many traffic rules. Police are still looking into what happened.

Police said the boy acted in a wild and disrespectful way. They are taking the case very seriously. He will now have to go before a juvenile judge. There, he will be held responsible for running from the police, breaking traffic rules, and putting others in danger.

The teenager was first seen during a big BOB check in Lanaken. Police stopped and checked 306 drivers during the action. One driver had drunk too much alcohol. 2 Others were using drugs while driving.

Another driver got a fine for using a mobile phone behind the wheel. The BOB checks are done to keep the roads safe and stop risky driving. Police said the results show that these checks are still important to catch people who break the rules and help stop accidents.

In May, a 25‑year‑old man was pursued by police in the Antwerp area after being spotted riding an e‑scooter at up to 90 km/h. He was also riding without valid registration and had a lifelong driving ban. During the chase, the rider twice collided with police motorcycles and endangered other road users. Eventually, he crashed and attempted to run away, but officers caught him.
