Bruges (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Kuwait Diplomatic Institute and College of Europe signed a MoU to enhance diplomatic training, cooperation, and expertise exchange.
The Saud AlNasser AlSabah Kuwait Diplomatic Institute has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the College of Europe in Bruges to boost diplomatic training and collaboration.Â
As reported by, the Delegation of the European Union to the State of Kuwait, this high-level event was followed by Assistant Foreign Minister for Kuwait Diplomatic Institute Ambassador Nasser S. Al-Sabeeh, College of Europe Rector Federica Mogherini, EUAmbassador to Kuwait Anne Koistinen and Ambassador of the State of Kuwait to the Kingdom of Belgium and the EU Ambassador Nawaf Alenezi.
What are the goals of the Kuwait-EU diplomacy MoU?
According to European Union sources, the MoU seeks to promote ongoing cooperation between the European Union and Kuwait in improving diplomatic training, enabling the exchange of expertise, and handling global challenges. These include climate change, women’s empowerment, peace and security, human rights, cybersecurity, as well as border diplomacy.
In her remarks, College of Europe Rector Federica Mogherini, said:
“The College of Europe is delighted to be partnering with the Saud AlNasser AlSabah Kuwait Diplomatic Institute. In recent years, we have designed a solid expertise in diplomatic training, in particular since we began hosting the European Union Diplomatic Academy. Sharing our expertise and supporting reinforce the EU-Kuwait relationship by making the capacity of the Kuwaiti diplomatic service is a role we are honoured to play.”
How does the MoU boost EU-Kuwait diplomatic ties?
Moreover, the EU Ambassador to Kuwait H.E. Anne Koistinen presented:
“This Memorandum of Understanding unlocks the door to building more structured and frequent collaboration between the College of Europe and Kuwait Diplomatic Institute, which could help both the European Union and Kuwait. By joining forces, we can improve the training of our diplomats, exchange expertise, and collaborate in facing global challenges together. The MoU is only the latest sign of increased collaboration between the EU and Kuwait. In light of the upcoming Presidency of Kuwait of the GCC, the partnership between the two institutions will be of special importance.”
