Kosmos renovation in Westouter faces safety concerns

Westouter (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – The Kosmos on Rodeberg in Westouter, Heuvelland, Belgium is under renovation into a modern attraction. Despite fences, alarms, and warnings from Nathalie Lermytte, people, including families, trespass dangerously. Authorities urge patience.

The Kosmos, a former holiday destination located on the Rodeberg in Westouter, municipality of Heuvelland, province of West Flanders, Belgium is undergoing a major renovation. The plan is to transform it into a modern attraction with a rooftop bar, wellness facilities, and exhibition spaces.

According to the officials, people are going to the Kosmos site even though it’s dangerous. Signs and fences are telling them not to go in, but they are ignoring them. They mention that the site is not safe because it’s under construction. There are lots of things that could hurt them. 

According to Nathalie Lermytte, people are climbing fences and going over the hills. She says it’s important to stay away until the work is finished.  People are excited about the new Kosmos, but safety comes first.

That is why I would like to appeal: please stay away from the site and the building. It is very dangerous there, especially now,

Is the Kosmos renovation in Westouter facing safety issues?

The Kosmos site is having a problem with people going in when they shouldn’t. They put in cameras and an alarm to stop it, but it’s not working.  People are still going in. The alarm goes off a lot, especially on weekends and sunny days.  

Nathalie Lermytte mentioned that they see pictures of people going in. She is worried because families with children are going in. The police get there, the people are gone. She mentioned that it’s hard to stop them because they leave before anyone can talk to them.

The people who own the Kosmos site are worried about people. They think it’s like stealing because the building is not finished. They are worried because the building is not safe. They mentioned that it could fall apart. The building is still being fixed. 

They are working hard to make it safe, but it’s not safe yet. Nathalie Lermytte says they will have an open day when the work is done so people can see the new Kosmos. She says people need to wait and not go in now because it’s too dangerous.  She wants people to be patient and not go in until it’s safe.

Kosmos was a great place for youngsters’ holidays, particularly due to its outdoor pool and beautiful spot. Nevertheless, after years of abandonment, the building deteriorated. Its redevelopment is highly anticipated. Officials mentioned that the renovation work is now in high gear, but the site remains a construction zone with workers busy restoring and modernizing the structure.
