Kortrijk (The Brussels Morning Newspaper): Wolf, a 7.5-year-old police dog, was euthanized due to declining health. He served in crowd control and drug detection, making a significant impact on the Vlas Police Zone.

Police dog Wolf, a loyal and dedicated member of the police team, had to be put to sleep because he was very sick. Wolf was only 7.5 years old, which is young for a police dog, but his health was getting worse quickly. His handler, who had a strong bond with Wolf after working together for many years, had to make the sad choice to end Wolf’s suffering.

How did the Vlas police zone cope with the Loss of Their Beloved K-9 Officer Wolf?

Wolf was an important member of the police team and helped with many tasks, but his health quickly got worse. Despite the best care, it became clear he couldn’t be treated anymore, so his handler made the kind decision to let him go to stop his pain. It has been said that Wolf’s passing is a big loss not just for his handler but for the whole police unit, as he was a trusted friend and partner. The police department honored his service and understood how difficult it was for his handler to lose such a valuable companion.

According to police spokesman Thomas De Tavernier, Wolf was a “dual purpose dog,” which meant he was very useful in many police operations. His main job was to patrol during tense situations, like managing crowds at football matches or breaking up fights in cafĂ©s. Wolf’s presence helped make these stressful situations safer by calming things down and providing protection to the officers on duty.

It has been said that Wolf was a special police dog who could sniff out drugs, which helped the police a lot during their work. His handler mentioned that he made the officers feel safer and was a good friend to them. Losing him is a big deal for the team because he was so skilled and loved. There are still enough police dogs available. They usually want about six dogs ready to work, and right now they have five ready and one puppy still learning, which is enough for now.
