Hasselt (Brussels Morning newspaper): JCI Hasselt organized a toy collection drive, collected “previously cherished toys”. The toys will be sold at Speleri 2.0 from November 16 to December 1, priced at half their original value. The initiative supports families and promotes sustainability, with vouchers available for those in need.

JCI Hasselt, a group of young entrepreneurs, organized a toy collection drive on 11th November.  People could bring in toys they no longer use but are still in good condition. JCI Hasselt prefers to call these items “previously cherished toys” instead of “second-hand,” focusing on their potential.

What are the details of JCI Hasselt’s toy collection drive for Spelerij 2.0?

The collected toys will be given to Spelerij 2.0, a shop that sells second-hand toys at affordable prices. This initiative helps families by offering toys they can buy for less and promotes sustainability by reducing waste. JCI Hasselt and Spelerij 2.0 are working together to support a more circular economy, where items are reused and appreciated by new owners.

From November 16 to December 1, Spelerij 2.0, a temporary store on the Grote Mark in Hasselt, will sell donated toys that are still in good condition. The toys will be priced at half or less of their original price. The store will be open every Wednesday and Saturday afternoon. For people facing financial difficulties, the city is offering 40 vouchers of 25 euros to help them buy toys. The money raised will support local charities, and any unsold toys will be donated to other organizations.
