Sint-Truiden (Brussels Morning Newspaper): Outgoing mayor Ingrid Kempeneers is worried about possible voting fraud and proxy votes. CD&V found mistakes in polling reports, while Vooruit calls them losers. A speaker feels let down by the WOW party for not keeping promises but still wants to help the people of Sint-Truiden.

Outgoing mayor Ingrid Kempeneers is concerned about possible voting fraud. She pointed out that many people are registered at the same address and may have used proxy votes. There’s a story about a local man who died after receiving his voting invitation, and it’s said that someone used his proxy vote after he passed away. Kempeneers is asking for an investigation into these proxy votes and mentioned a sick note without a date that could be easily changed. Many people have reported issues with proxy voting, and she wants to ensure everything was done properly.

Are there voting irregularities in Sint-Truiden?

CD&V claims there were mistakes in the polling station reports, noting issues in six locations, including one where the digital vote sticks were in the wrong envelope. They are questioning why Open VLD received more votes in that station than anywhere else. A man has come forward saying his parents were pressured by their doctor to give up their power of attorney, and he wants to testify about it. CD&V is filing a complaint with the Council, but Vooruit is calling them bad losers for doing so, even though they have filed complaints in the past. CD&V just wants clarity on the situation.

The speaker is upset with the WOW party for not keeping their promises after the elections. They say if there was vote fraud, they might need to take action, but they didn’t mind not becoming an alderman. They feel disappointed by a joke about their relationship and the party breaking their agreement. Even though they feel lied to for two years, they still want to help the people of Sint-Truiden and they mentioned that they will keep doing so, whether they have a title or not.
