Halle (Brussels Morning Newspaper): A local carnival group is holding a garage sale to clear their stitching room after 33 years of collecting fabrics, ribbons, and costumes. Member Truyens invites the community to purchase products at half price, promoting creativity and reuse.
The local carnival group is having a garage sale to clear out their stitching room, which is full after 33 years of collecting fabrics, ribbons, and costumes. Their collection has grown so much that almost no space is left for work. The group decided to sell them at the garage sale, hoping people would find creative ways to reuse products.
Why is the Halle Carnival Group hosting a garage sale for costumes?
According to Truyens, a group member, they are having the sale to give a new purpose to the fabrics, ribbons, and costumes they’ve collected. The materials have piled up so much that there’s hardly any space to move in their stitching room. The sale will have many carnival items, allowing the community to reuse them while helping the group clean and organize their space.
Anyone can come to buy fabrics at the sale. Truyens said they are selling them for half the price they paid. He invites anyone who wants to make their costumes or groups that need small amounts. The stitching room at De Vrie Kadeikes has lots of colorful patterns because, as Truyens said, “We are a carnival group, so everything has to be bright” He also mentioned that making a carnival costume takes time and creativity, but their group has many talented people to help.
