These buildings include the North Limburg Art Academy Stadswerken, De Schommel primary school and Sports Hall 2 De Soeverein. The initiative involves installing solar panels on these roofs, with the funding sourced entirely from citizen capital. This approach allows all residents of the region to invest in the project promoting community involvement in sustainable energy generation within Lommel.

Green Energy Revolution

The city of Lommel is going green with energy. They recently opened a big wind farm at Kristalpark providing power to 34,000 families and cutting CO2 emissions by 53,000 tons yearly. Joris Mertens the Alderman for the Environment, shared that they are now installing 475 solar panels on four roofs.
