Ghent (The Brussels Morning Newspaper): Three friends ignored red flag warning and swam in restricted area leading to a 19-year-old drowning. A witness jumped in performed CPR but the teen later died in the hospital.

Three friends from Brussels decided to swim in a pond after 7 pm even though there were no lifeguards around. At that time a red flag was up which meant swimming was not allowed because it was unsafe. Despite this warning the friends chose to go into the water anyway ignoring the safety rules. Their choice to swim took them from the beach area to the other side of the pond which was a restricted zone. This not only broke the rules that were posted but also ignored the safety measures that were put in place to keep swimmers safe from dangers.

What led to the tragic drowning of a 19-year-old man in Brussels despite a witness’s heroic rescue attempt?

A 19-year-old man was in trouble for reasons that are still unclear. He ended up in some water and as things got serious a witness saw what was happening and acted fast. Without thinking twice the witness jumped into the water and was able to save the young man from a dangerous situation. Once the young man was out of the water the witness started giving him CPR while waiting for help to arrive. Their quick actions were very important in giving immediate help and improving the chances of a good outcome. The witness’s bravery and fast response were key in saving the young man and starting his treatment.

The teenager from Brussels who was saved from the water and put in an artificial coma has sadly died. After the incident he was taken to the hospital where he received intensive care and was put in a coma to help with his condition. Even though the witness acted quickly and the medical team tried their best his health did not get better. The public prosecutor’s office in East Flanders has confirmed that the teenager has died. They are still looking into what happened before the incident and this loss is a sad end to the events. The investigation is trying to find out what caused the situation and how the teenager ended up passing away.
