Genk road rage incident: 4 arrested, victim out of danger

Genk (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – On February 9, 2025, Carma police responded to a road rage incident where a man was seriously injured after being pushed and hitting his head. 4 suspects were arrested, with 1 remaining in custody. The victim is now in stable condition.

On Sunday night, February 9, 2025, around 10:30 p.m., Carma police were called to a serious road rage incident. They found a man lying unconscious on the road when they arrived. Emergency services came quickly to help. 

The Limburg public prosecutor’s office is now handling the investigation. Spokesperson Anna Degraen shared some details about the case. The incident happened in a public area with cameras, so it was recorded on video. He mentioned that this footage would help the police understand what happened.

What led to the violent road rage incident in Genk?

According to the officials, the video shows the victim in a fight with 4 people. The fight got worse, and 1 suspect pushed the victim down hard. He hit his head on the road and passed out. Investigators are trying to find the people who attacked him.

Degraen said:

“We see that four suspects fought with the victim. One of the suspects then made him fall. The victim hits his head on the road and becomes unconscious.”

After the attack, the 4 suspects ran away. Police acted quickly and used camera footage to find them. They arrested all 4 people. The suspects went before a judge who looked at the case. The judge kept 1 suspect in custody and let the other 3 go for now. The authorities are now doing a deeper investigation to see what else needs to be done.

The victim had a serious head injury and was taken to the hospital on Sunday night. He was in critical condition at first. Medical teams helped him and kept a close watch on his health. 

According to officials, he is now out of danger and getting better. They mentioned that this news brings relief to many people. Authorities will keep checking on his health and the investigation as it goes on.
