How has Kallas previously engaged with Türkiye officials?
Kaja Kallas, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, has had several earlier engagements with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan leading up to her upcoming visit to Türkiye.
It has been reported in December 2024 that during the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe, OSCE’s Ministerial Council held in Malta, Kallas met with Fidan. However, the agendas included several other regional issues where security concerns faced Europe and parts of the Mediterranean region.
On 13th January 2025, Kallas attended discussions of the current situation in Syria, along with Fidan, foreign ministers and their counterparts, for a sit at the meeting convened at Riyadh to address the future and implications for recent changes regarding Syria after Assad fell.
Earlier, on December 17, 2024, Kallas and Fidan held telephonic deliberations about the burning issues concerning Ukraine, Syria, and Gaza. In doing so, they emphasised their continued diplomatic discussion regarding regional stability.
