Diepenbeek (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Depot Margot (Limburg) joined vzw Voedselbank Limburg to handle rising poverty (+35% in 5 years). Dirk Vandencruys says teamwork ensures food, aid, and dignity reach more people.

As VRT News reported, Depot Margot in Limburg, which gives out food, is now part of VZW Voedselbank Limburg. This change happened because the group needed more help. Depot Margot takes extra food and other items from stores and businesses. Then, it gives these things to groups that help people who don’t have much money.

Dirk Vandencruys from Depot Margot says that more people in Limburg are poor now. In the last 5 years, the number of poor people went up by 35%. He thinks even more people will need help soon because the government is changing how unemployment benefits work.

How will Depot Margot and Limburg food bank tackle rising poverty?

By joining with VZW Voedselbank Limburg, Depot Margot gets more help with things like moving goods and getting them to people. They mentioned that this partnership helps the depot deal with future problems better.

It makes sure that food and other important items keep reaching those who need them. These groups do more than just give things away; they help people keep their dignity and stay part of society. This change is a response to big problems like rising costs and job issues.

VZW Voedselbank Limburg Depot Margot plans to create a big network of groups that help people, like charities and volunteer groups. They mentioned that the goal is to make sure everyone gets the help they need and to build a strong community to fight poverty in Limburg. They want to work together to make a bigger difference.

The new Depot Margot hopes to make sure help gets to everyone who needs it without any problems. They want to share what they know and what they have. This way, everyone in Limburg who is struggling will get the support they need. They aim to make sure that help goes where it’s needed most.

In Belgium, food banks are important for helping people. They take extra food and give it to those who need it. This is especially helpful when times are tough, and more people are poor. Limburg has more poverty because things cost more, there aren’t enough homes, jobs are hard to find, and some benefits have changed.

Poverty causes problems like not having enough food, feeling alone, and trouble with health, school, and jobs. Groups like Depot Margot, working with the Limburg Food Bank, can help more people by sharing resources and working together. This teamwork is a new way of helping, focusing on big solutions instead of small ones. They want to help everyone in the area.
