Kortrijk (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Kortrijk’s Cobergher Hotel receives the prestigious 5-star superior rating from Tourism Flanders, becoming one of only five hotels in the region with the title.
It is just the fifth hotel in Flanders to be given this designation. The hotel has been open for just a year.
Ten years ago, the Verschetse family began construction on a complex of buildings in Kortrijk. The Cobergher hotel on the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwestraat opened its doors last year.
“It is remarkable that a hotel achieves the 5-star superior level so rapidly,”
says Tourism Flanders spokesperson Stef Gits.
“You can compare that level with the Champions League in football. That is not just the 5-star level, but there is also a layer of personal service on top of that. In the whole of Flanders there are 4 other hotels with that level, 2 of which are located in West Flanders: Hotel Dukes Palace in Bruges and La Réserve Resort in Knokke-Heist.”
“It’s a happy day for us,”
says manager Raphael Van Nevel.
“It’s an emotional and beautiful moment. We immediately had the intention to offer a good service when we started, and it’s great to receive this award. It was a huge relief for all the staff.”
He added that they will hang the sign at the entrance, but he doesn’t know if it will attract extra people. With their star hotel we are targeting a niche market.
The many national and international companies in Kortrijk will now be certain that they will get quality when they call on their services.
Gits added that you immediately feel when you come in that you will be unburdened.
The reception is manned day and night, you can also order room service 24/7 and your car will be neatly parked for you. They have a useful sewing and ironing service, so they really think of everything.
What makes the Cobergher Hotel stand out among other luxury hotels in Flanders?
In Kortrijk’s medieval core, the hotel is set in a painstakingly renovated former Heritage House and surrounding historic structures that evoke the grandeur of an aristocratic city castle with a rich 17th-century history. Rarely found in the area, this fusion of luxury and antiquity produces a singular, majestic ambiance.
Renowned designers have individually adorned each room and suite, providing visitors with a novel and unexpected décor each time they visit. The interiors provide a sophisticated yet cozy atmosphere by fusing old-world design and workmanship with contemporary comfort.
The hotel’s location near the famous Broel Towers, along the lovely banks of the Lys River, enhances the visitor experience by providing beautiful views and convenient access to Kortrijk’s historic landmarks and lively city life.
