On November 1, 2022, an incident at the Versuz discotheque in Hasselt involved the husband of a 31-year-old woman from Antwerp. Reports indicate that he was on the dance floor conversing with two young women, which led to irritation among other patrons. It has been said that this situation got out of control quickly, resulting in a chaotic and dangerous environment in the nightclub.

How did a Night Out at Versuz Discotheque lead to serious injuries?

According to resources, the situation worsened when a 27-year-old woman was involved in a fight at the Versuz discotheque. She was hit in the face. After that, she was hit with glasses, causing more injuries. This violence changed a small argument into a big fight. Authorities are looking into the incident to find out what happened and who is to blame for the disruption.

She was taken to the hospital in Leuven by ambulance for urgent surgery and stayed there for three weeks. Doctors saved her eye, but she lost some vision and is now completely disabled. Her attorney, Jessie Baerts, filed a civil suit for her since she couldn’t attend the trial. “It was senseless violence. We are still calculating the total damages. For her boyfriend, I am asking for 5,000 euros in damages,” the attorney said.

A 21-year-old woman said she threw two glasses but didn’t remember if they hit the victim. The other woman, 31, was turned away from the fight when she felt glass on her leg and threw glasses back by mistake. Their lawyers claimed the investigation wasn’t thorough and questioned if the glasses caused all the injuries, especially since the victim said a man hit her first. The decision will be given on December 10.
