Kortrijk (The Brussels Morning Newspaper): On January 5-6, a car fire in Kortrijk trapped a family in their home. The 32-year-old man from Kure set the fire as revenge against a dealer who was not present. Both the dealer and an accomplice received three-year suspended sentences.

On the night of January 5th to 6th, a family living on Toekomststraat in Kortrijk was suddenly woken up by a scary situation. The mother thought their house was on fire when smoke started coming inside. In a panic, she tried to gather her three kids and get them to safety through the front door. But when she got to the door, she was shocked to see that the car parked right in front of their house was on fire.

Why did a family in Kortrjik become victims of revenge fire?

A family on Toekomststraat in Kortrijk got trapped in their home because a fire spread from a car parked outside. The flames got so big that they blocked the front door, making it hard for them to escape. The fire department came quickly and put out the fire before it could reach their house, keeping the family safe from a really dangerous situation.

After the fire, it was found that the incident was probably an act of revenge. However, the person the attack was aimed at was not home, so the family became victims of a dangerous situation that wasn’t meant for them.  It has been said that this made the event even more tragic and unsettling, as they were caught in someone else’s conflict. A 32-year-old man from Kure set fire to a house in Kortrijk in exchange for drugs from a dealer. The dealer didn’t directly ask him to do it but didn’t stop him either. The man threw a Molotov cocktail at the house, then went with others to a gas station to buy more fuel, paid for by the dealer. They returned to the house to continue the fire. The dealer and an accomplice were convicted and given three-year suspended sentences.
