Leuven (Brussels Morning Newspaper): Café ‘t Werrek in Wigmaal has reopened with new owners Maarten, Evy, and Wouter after being closed for six months. They kept the same vibe but had to change the café’s color from blue to light gray due to local rules. The community is happy to have their village pub back.

The popular café ‘t Werrek in Wijgmaal has reopened after a six-month closure. The previous owner had to close the café due to a serious illness. Three new owners are committed to maintaining the same atmosphere as a village pub. They kept the original bar to respect its history but also renovated the space to make it more inviting.

What challenges did Cafe ‘t Werrek face with its blue exterior?

Café ‘t Werrek has a new blue color on the outside to match its logo. The owners thought the blue would make it look modern and friendly, but they found out it might not be allowed. “We thought the blue looked great,” said Maarten, one of the new owners. Now they have to figure out local rules about building colors. Even with this problem, Werrek has reopened as a fresh and familiar place, keeping its history while looking forward to the future.

In the Moroccan town of Chefchaouen, all the houses are painted blue, attracting many tourists. However, in Wijgmaal, a café owner named Maarten had to repaint his café from blue to light gray after a complaint was made about the blue color. Maarten and his friends, Evy and Wouter, are excited about Werrek, the only café in the center of Wijgmaal, and the locals are happy to see their village pub open again.
