Bekkevoort (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – A single bull managed to escape its confines, which led to temporary disruption along the E314 road near Bekkevoort on its way to Lummen. “I tried to position my truck so the animal would not cross the highway, but it walked calmly between the cars.”

The E314 motorway has experienced major disruptions in its Lummen and Bekkevoort areas because of construction work, accidents, and incidents of escaping livestock. Traffic delays, together with roadblocks because of these incidents, disrupt daily travel for motorists across the entire network.

The current disruption, alongside the continued roadwork operation, is to reduce congestion levels. A bull’s unplanned journey on the E314 at Bekkevoort created a traffic-congested zone in Bekkevoort.

The E314 experienced a traffic jam as Geert Cuypers operated his truck. The cause? A wild bull began walking toward the highway from its herd.” I tried to position my truck to stop the animal, but the bull wouldn’t let me,” he says. “In the meantime, the traffic jam had grown, and the bull calmly walked between the cars. Of course, the animal attracted a lot of attention.”

The traffic police arrived on the scene, but by then, the animal had already disappeared, and the traffic jam had cleared. “The animal was back at the farmer’s and safe and sound in its stable,” it said.

What is the broader context of E314 traffic issues?

The E314 is an essential transportation route that faces regular operational stoppages due to heavy traffic loads and unexpected situations. Incidents occur regularly within the region, extending from Lummen to Bekkevoort.

Politie Hageland stated they had resolved an accident in Lummen while simultaneously warning about upcoming traffic delays. The E314 experienced a total traffic stop leading to Bekkevoort heading towards Lummen following a serious traffic incident, according to Nieuws uit Bekkevoort. An accident on the E314 between Bekkevoort and Lummen-centrum caused VRT Verkeer to tweet about the resulting traffic delays in the area.
