Brussels (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Traffic on Brussels’ Outer Ring (R0) is severely disrupted due to a damaged bridge joint near Medialaan, reducing lanes from 3 to 2, worsened by ongoing Vilvoorde viaduct roadworks.
As VRT News reported, traffic on the Brussels Outer Ring (R0) is heavily disrupted. There’s a problem with the bridge between Sint-Stevens-Woluwe and the Medialaan bridge. Part of the bridge joint has come loose. The right lane on the Medialaan bridge is closed.
There are only 2 lanes open instead of 3. This is causing big traffic problems on a very busy road. The Roads and Traffic Agency says this is because of a structural issue on the bridge. The closure of the lane has significantly reduced the road’s capacity. The R0 is one of the busiest roads in the country, making the traffic disruption even worse.
What’s causing the heavy traffic on Brussels Outer Ring R0?
The lane closure is causing more problems because of roadwork on the Vilvoorde viaduct. The viaduct is a big bridge on the ring road. It’s already causing slow traffic and fewer lanes. Officials mentioned that cars are moving slowly, and delays are getting longer.
People are taking much longer to get where they need to go. Both commuters and trucks are affected. The roadwork on the Vilvoorde viaduct has been ongoing. The combination of these 2 issues is making traffic much worse. The traffic is very heavy, especially during rush hour.
