Kruibeke (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – The Braemland I Wind Farm in Kruibeke, owned by Wase Wind, is replacing 3, 20-year-old turbines with larger ones, nearly tripling electricity for Kruibeke, Bazel, and Rupelmonde.
As VRT News reported, the 3 wind turbines at the Braemland I Wind Farm along the E17 motorway in Kruibeke, in the province of East Flanders, Belgium, are being replaced with 3 new, larger turbines. Each will have a hub height of up to 135 meters and blades reaching 139 meters in diameter.
What will Wase Wind’s new turbines bring to Braemland I?
According to officials, the new turbines are expected to produce almost 3 times as much electricity as the current ones. The upgrade will increase energy output and help the community rely more on locally produced renewable power.
The Braemland I Wind Farm is situated along the E17 motorway in Kruibeke, Belgium. It was inaugurated in 2005 with 3 Dewind D8.0 turbines, each rated at 2000 kW. These wind turbines have been very helpful at providing renewable energy to local communities, including Kruibeke, Bazel, and Rupelmonde. In 2025, Wase Wind (the cooperative that had been operating the wind farm) started to process of shutting down the old turbines in order to replace them with new, more powerful ones.
