Blankenberg (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – French artist Romain Weintzem made 3 Art Nouveau sculptures for Beaufort24. His green bench, once on Ostend Pier, will move to the Belle Epoque district for preservation this week.
The city worked with the artist to find a new place for the green bench. They decided to move it to the Belle Epoque district in Ostend. The bench will be fixed up and then moved to its new home this week. Officials mentioned that it will still be a beautiful piece of art for people to enjoy and sit on, and it will be part of the city’s history and culture.
How did Romain Weintzem’s art Nouveau Sculptures enhance Beaufort24?
Romain Weintzem made 3 sculptures for the Beaufort24 festival, including the green Art Nouveau bench. All 3 sculptures are now part of the Beaufort Sculpture Park by the Sea. This park keeps some of the art from the festival so people can see them all the time.
Weintzem made 2 other sculptures besides the bench. One is at Lighthouse Square, and the other is near St. Anthony’s Church. These sculptures were taken down after the festival so they could be cleaned and painted. They will be put back in the same places where they were during the festival.
Romain Weintzem, a French artist, made a special bench for the Beaufort 24 arts festival. The bench was put on the Pier in Ostend, near the Paravang, which is an old, stylish windbreak with green benches. The Pier is a special place and can’t be changed, so Weintzem’s bench couldn’t stay there after the festival.
He mentioned that he was inspired by the beautiful Art Nouveau style, like the famous Paris metro entrances designed by Hector Guimard. Weintzem grew up in Paris and loved the art and architecture there. His bench has curvy shapes.
