Beringen’s athletics track opens for public use

Beringen (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – The athletics track at the old Stedelik Administratief Centrum in Beringen is now open to the public, promoting physical activity. Alderman Jessie De Weyer highlights its safety, maintenance, and accessibility. The Start2Run program starts February 13, 2025.

The athletics track at the old Stedelijk Administratief Centrum is now open to the public. Jessie De Weyer, the Alderman for Sports, said this project aims to promote physical activity. He mentioned that the track is perfect for both experienced runners and beginners. It offers a place to train without worries about traffic or rough ground. Many individual runners and local sports teams will use this new facility for practice.

Where can runners in Beringen train safely year-round?

The athletics track will also have the Start2Run program, which will begin on Thursday, February 13, 2025. According to the officials, this program helps people learn to run from the beginning to a 5-kilometer goal. It includes training sessions, expert advice, and support through the Start2Run app. 

Officials mentioned that this makes it easy for everyone to join, no matter their fitness level. With this new track, Beringen is improving its sports facilities and promoting a healthier lifestyle for its people.

“Athletes who are looking for a safe and well-maintained space to train can go here”,

“The track will also be used for the popular Start2Run initiatives, which will start on Thursday 13 February.”

The athletics track at the old Stedelijk Administratief Centrum in Beringen is open all year. It is designed for use even in the winter months. The track has lights that turn on from 6:00 to 9:00 in the morning and from 17:00 pm to 23:00 pm. This allows runners to train safely when it is dark outside. Alderman for Sports, Jessie De Weyer, mentioned that this feature makes the track a good choice for athletes. It is well-maintained and easy to access throughout the year.

“The track is lit from 6 to 9 am and from 5 to 11 pm,”

De Weyer lists.

“Which means that runners can also make optimal use of the athletics track during the winter months.”

According to officials, the athletics track in Beringen has many benefits for runners of all levels. It has a flat surface that is safe and helps prevent injuries. They mentioned that the inner track is 311 meters long, while the outer track is 337 meters long. Officials said that with its public access and these features, the track is a valuable place for both casual and competitive runners in the area.
