Beringen (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – KVK Beringen Football Club has proposed constructing a massive sports facility at the De Motbemden domain, which they plan to include four football fields and nine padel fields together with a sports hall.
In 2026, KVK Beringen plans to establish a big sports facility inside the De Motbemden domain. Implementation of the proposed complex includes 4 football fields together with 9 padel courts and a sports hall containing 2 indoor football fields as well as facilities for running tracks and physiotherapy services, and a fitness room. Bicycle shelters and a parking area form part of the project, along with field renovation work. At present, the city of Beringen maintains that no official request exists for this project.
The football club KVK Beringen has long pursued the expansion of the green domain de Motbemden. The football club desires to develop a large green sports complex to expand the recreational services available to Beringen residents. TVL News channel broadcasted yesterday that the expansion plans have reached a defining stage.
“The Motbemden Sportpark project is a milestone for KVK Beringen and the city. We not only want to offer a top infrastructure to our players, but also create a sporting meeting place for all of Beringen. The sports park will have a positive impact on youth work, the club and the entire community,”
Says chairman Kristof Devries.
“The plan takes into account the nature of the Helderbeek valley. The new infrastructure is strategically placed to preserve the green character of the place. In addition, a buffer zone against flooding is provided. All trees that are removed will be compensated with new plantings.”
According to a press release from KVK Beringen, the opening of the renovated sports park is planned for 2026, but so far, no permit has been requested from the city. Alderman for Sports Jessie De Weyer:
“The club still has to apply for a building permit and go through it all. That is of course a long process.”
“Of course it is a nice project, but the club would also have to move for its matches and training. For that we are now looking at the Mijnstadion,”
The alderman adds.
What is the history of KVK Beringen’s sports park proposal?
The Limburg region’s leading football club, KVK Beringen, has pursued facility expansion to fulfil expanding community and athletic requirements throughout many years. Planners have focused on the De Motbemden domain in Beringen for several years as they develop their vision.
This sports park supports the club’s mission to improve youth growth along with community relationships and recreational spaces. The Flemish city of Beringen currently maintains a resident population of nearly 46,000 people and requires more up-to-date sports facilities to meet growing demand.
The design incorporates flood protection zones with matching tree plantations to safeguard the environment near Helderbeek Valley. The Mijnstadion functions as a local sports facility which supports various organisations through its current limited capacity.
