The House of Nature won a big award, the Platinum Award at the London Design Awards 2024. This competition is a global event that praises amazing designs and creative work. The award was for the House of Nature in the art projects in open spaces category. This shows how great the project is at combining art with public spaces making cities more beautiful and cultural.

The House of Nature: A Captivating Gateway to Bosland National Park

The House of Nature is like a art piece at the entrance of Bosland National Park in Lommel Belgium. It looks like a big sand dune and represents the natural surroundings there. The design of the structure looks like how sand moves in the wind showing the constant changes in nature. The entrance of the House of Nature looks like a person. It reminds us of how connected humans are to nature. People can walk through this entrance showing how we are linked to our environment in a peaceful way. It makes visitors think about how they can help protect and enjoy the beauty and importance of Bosland National Park and its different ecosystems.

Will Beckers the artist really felt strongly about the House of Nature project. He said it was like a dream coming true and felt almost unreal. He mentioned how special the project is to him and how many people worked hard together to make it happen. Beckers was really happy to get recognition for their work. It showed that their effort was appreciated and that their idea for the House of Nature was meaningful. This acknowledgment not only praised their creative success but also highlighted the project’s big impact and importance in the community as an artistic and environmental project. Beckers thought a lot about how the House of Nature affects people. He saw the recognition as proof that the artwork does what it was meant to do connect people with nature. He noticed that visitors are starting to realize that humans are important but just a small part of a bigger natural system which was a key idea he wanted to show through the project.

How the House of Nature Inspires Visitors to Appreciate and Protect Nature

The design of the House of Nature lets visitors stop and enjoy the beauty of nature giving them a peaceful place to think. Beckers said the installation doesn’t just greet people. It also makes them think about how they connect with the natural world. By providing a space to relax and take in the surroundings the artwork tells an interesting story teaching important lessons and helping people value the environment more.

Lommel city wanted more people to visit Bosland with the good gateway so winning the prize shows it worked. “The gateway is great, House of Nature invites you to explore the park. Thanks to everyone involved, especially artist Will Beckers,” said Mayor Bob Nijs (CD&V).
