What events celebrate Saint Martin in Aalst this November?

The journey starts at ‘t Gasthuys – Stedelijk Museum, where the first part of the story is shown. Visitors will walk through the city to three more locations, each featuring new scenes and animations that continue the story. This visual experience ends at Sint-Martinuskerk.

It has been said that Saint Martin is a special friend to children in Aalst, celebrated every year on November 11. The main event is the light parade on Sunday, November 10, starting at 6 PM, featuring Roman soldier Maarten on horseback and fire performers. Kids can join workshops to make lanterns and walk in the parade with them. This year, there will also be large light sculptures inspired by the St. Martin’s parade in Utrecht, part of the “in our hands” exhibition at ‘t Gasthuys from October 25, 2024, to April 27, 2025.
