Ganshoren (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – A 43-year-old man, KM, was arrested for manslaughter after 55-year-old CP, a Brazilian, was found dead in Ganshoren. Both had alcohol issues; investigation and forensic checks are ongoing.

As Nieuwsblad reported, a 43-year-old man was arrested on Sunday afternoon, Jan 5, 2025, in Ganshoren, near Brussels. He is suspected of manslaughter after a friend was found dead in an apartment on Oude Pastoriestraat.

Emergency services were called after the man said he had woken up next to his friend. He told authorities he did not know how the death had happened. When first responders arrived, they confirmed the victim had died. The man who died is identified as CP, a 55-year-old of Brazilian origin. The circumstances of his death are still unclear.

What happened between KM and the 55-Year-Old CP in Ganshoren?

The suspect remains in custody while police continue the investigation. Authorities have not given details about the relationship between the 2 men or the cause of death. Investigators are carrying out further checks and forensic tests to determine what happened.

When questioned by police, the 43-year-old suspect, KM, admitted that he and his friend disagreed the night before the incident. He gave only vague details, and it remains unclear what the argument was about. The public prosecutor’s office confirmed the information and said it had been notified of the case. An investigating judge has been requested to oversee the inquiry.

Both the suspect and the victim were well known in their neighbourhood. Reports indicate that they both struggled with alcohol addiction. KM had recently been evicted from his home in Neder-Over-Heembeek.

Since then, he had been living at a psychiatric care centre in Ganshoren. Authorities are taking these circumstances into account as the investigation into the death of CP, the 55-year-old Brazilian man, continues.

Similar cases were also reported throughout Belgium, before. In August 2025 a body of a 65-year-old man in central Brussels was found by investigators with a suspect/ arrested (although the suspect has shown a motive) in the same month, a 64-year-old man was arrested for alleged manslaughter.

In June 2025 resulted in an altercation that led to the death of a 34-year-old male and resulted in the arrest of 3 individuals on suspicion of murder in a canal in Anderlecht.
