Brussels (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Net.Brussels sets rules for New Year’s greetings to prevent scams. Visits allowed only Dec 6–9, 2025, with safety measures. Residents can verify staff via official card or 0800 981 81.

As VRT News reported, Net.Brussels has set clear rules for how its staff may offer New Year’s greetings. The agency now allows these visits only from December 6, 2025, to December 9, 2025. Staff may ring doorbells during this short period to deliver their greetings.

Residents may still choose whether they want to receive the greetings. Even within the allowed days, no one is required to open their door. Any visit outside the set dates should be treated with caution, and the agency urges people to stay alert and report anything unusual.

What are the rules for receiving New Year greetings from Net.Brussels?

Net.Brussels has issued clear advice to help residents avoid scams during the New Year’s greeting round. The agency explains that every genuine staff member carries an official greeting card. The card includes the New Year’s message and practical information about waste collection, taking out trash and placing garbage bags.

Officials mentioned that crews visit each home only once and make their rounds outside regular working hours, but never after 8:00 p.m. Anyone who rings a doorbell later than that, or returns to a home more than once, is not a Net.Brussels worker.

The agency asks residents to follow these rules if they notice anything unusual. By checking the card and the timing of the visit, people can safely receive their New Year’s greetings from the teams that keep the city clean. Net.Brussels advises anyone unsure about a visitor to call the toll-free number 0800 981 81 or email info@arp-gan.be for confirmation.

Net.Brussels, the public agency responsible for waste collection and street cleaning in the Brussels-Capital Region since 1990, has tightened its rules around New Year’s greetings after several reports of doorstep scams in recent years. The agency has been updating its public-safety measures since the launch of the regional Clean. Brussels plan on 29 November 2022, which introduced stricter guidelines for waste services and public contact.
