Kyiv (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated on Saturday that his over two-hour discussion with US President Donald Trump might contribute to bringing the Russia-Ukraine conflict “closer to an end.”
Zelenskyy visited the White House to discuss with Trump, focusing on battlefield positions, long-range capabilities, air defence, and diplomatic prospects, Reuters reported.
What did Zelenskyy and Trump discuss during their meeting?
“Over two hours of a pointed conversation with the President of the United States that can really help bring this war closer to an end,”
Zelenskyy noted on Telegram.
“We discussed all key issues – our positions on the battlefield, long-range capabilities and air defence, and, of course, diplomatic prospects.”
Zelenskyy described the meeting as productive, emphasising talks on air defence, weapons manufacturing, and possible exchanges involving Tomahawk missiles and Ukrainian-made arms drones.
He also said that
“Russia must end the aggression it started and continues to deliberately prolong,”
voicing hope that the US will keep pressure on Russia.

Earlier, Zelenskyy mentioned he discussed with European and NATO leaders the details of his discussions with Trump, emphasising their shared goal of protecting lives and enhancing security throughout Europe.
“I shared details of my conversation with US President Donald Trump. We discussed many important issues. The main priority now is to protect as many lives as possible, guarantee security for Ukraine, and strengthen all of us in Europe,”

What message did Trump share on his Truth Social post after the meeting?
Trump also stated on his Truth Social platform that Kyiv and Moscow want to end the war and revealed plans to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in Hungary to discuss a potential peace agreement.
He further said,
“Enough blood has been shed, with property lines being defined by War and Guts. They should stop where they are. Let both claim Victory, let History decide! No more shooting, no more Death, no more vast and unsustainable sums of money spent. This is a War that would have never started if I were President. Thousands of people being slaughtered each and every week — NO MORE, GO HOME TO YOUR FAMILIES IN PEACE!”
