London (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – US President Donald Trump is set to meet UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer at his country estate later, as the state visit moves from royal pageantry to political discussions on the second day of the state visit.

A day ago, Trump met the King and Queen, and the Prince and Princess of Wales in Windsor, for a carriage procession and state banquet. At a state banquet last night, Trump told the assembled royals that the second state visit was one of the “greatest honours of my life”, while the King praised the president’s “personal dedication to finding solutions to some of the world’s most persistent conflicts.”

Following a day of pomp and ceremony, which saw Trump ride in a carriage with King Charles and attend a state banquet, the U.S. president and Starmer will mark the unveiling of a $205 billion package of US investment in the UK.

What will Trump and Starmer discuss at Chequers meeting?

Trump is scheduled to go to Chequers, the Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s official country residence, for discussions on trade and geopolitical issues with the British leader, the UK, and the US delegations

According to sources, when Trump arrives at Chequers, a 16th-century mansion located near London that is used by prime ministers as a more informal country retreat and setting for international diplomacy, he will be greeted by Starmer, his wife Victoria, and another ceremonial guard of honor and bagpipers.

What major investments has Trump announced for Britain?

Trump’s state visit to Britain has attracted £150 billion according to the British government, which cited its own data from new and previously announced commitments.

Britain has announced the largest commercial investment package ever secured by a state visit.  It includes a previously announced 100 billion pound long-term investment pledge from private equity firm Blackstone, as well as 3.9 billion pounds from Prologis for life sciences and advanced manufacturing.

How does this visit compare to Trump’s 2019 trip?

The first formal state visit by Donald Trump as President of the United States took place from June 3-5, 2019. During this trip, Trump had a royal audience with Queen Elizabeth II, attended a state banquet, visited Windsor Castle, visited British political leaders, and faced considerable public demonstrations and protests. This was a major diplomatic occasion marking his first trip to the UK as President.`
