Kruibeke (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – The Polderscross in Kruibeke is cancelled due to the loss of the paved start/finish area. Organiser Bram De Brauwer now focuses on Rapencross Lokeren, set for November 2, 2025, before the European Championships.

As VRT News reported, the Polderscross race in Kruibeke, a municipality in the province of East Flanders, Belgium, won’t happen next year. The reason is that there’s no paved road needed for the start and finish. Cyclocross races need a paved area for safety and timing, even though most of the course is off-road.

They mentioned that the usual paved area, a parking lot near the sports hall, is now gone because the area was changed by the town. The organiser, Bram De Brauwer, said they didn’t even ask for a race date this year because the course doesn’t meet the rules anymore.

Will Polderscross return as Rapencross rises on November 2?

Bram De Brauwer knew about the parking area changes ahead of time. He understands why the town made the changes. But his team can’t host the race without the necessary paved area. He still hopes the race can return someday. He wants to talk with the new town council to find a solution.

He mentioned that the Polderscross was once a well-known race, famous for its flat, windy course in the Scheldt polders. Now, the race’s future is uncertain unless they can find a way to meet the infrastructure requirements.

Even though the Polderscross in Kruibeke is not happening, Bram De Brauwer is still busy. He organises the Rapencross in Lokeren. The race will stay on the X²O Badkamers Trofee calendar. The city of Lokeren wants to keep the race for 3 more years. De Brauwer said that everyone, including the cycling groups and riders, has been happy with the event.

The Rapencross will be held on Sunday, November 2nd, 2025, right after the famous Koppenbergcross. This weekend is seen as the start of the cyclocross season. The European Cyclocross Championships are the following week.
