The city made the decision to clean up the area, clearing away all the trash and having a professional company inspect it. Residents discovered asbestos material once more after the playground was approved by that corporation.
After that, the city fenced off the playground once more and hired a professional asbestos removal company to clean it up.
“A layer of soil of about 30 centimetres was dug up and new fresh soil was brought in,” says mayor Lieven Dehandschutter (N-VA).
Now that it has occurred, the playground is open once more.
