Brussels marks 36th anniversary with Iris festival events

Brussels (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – Brussels marks its 36th anniversary with the Iris Festival on 3–4 May 2025, featuring 80+ free events, communal tours, and Iris Tipik Electro Night headlined by Fatboy Slim, The Magician, and MYD.

As reported by VRT News, the Iris Festival in Brussels happens every year and has many free events. This year Brussels region is celebrating its 36th anniversary with Iris festivals. On Saturday, May 3, 2025, different areas of Brussels will have activities. In Vorst (Forest), people can visit the historic town hall. There will be tours to see the building.

Saint-Gilles is also letting people see its town hall, which has special architecture and history. Sint-Jans-Molenbeek will have many things happening, like workshops, street performances, and neighbourhood events. In Anderlecht, people can go on a walk in the Kuregem area, play in a petanque tournament. Also, there will be rides on a classic steam train.

What can people expect at the Brussels Iris Festival this year?

The Iris Festival in Brussels ends with a big party called the Iris Tipik Electro Night. It takes place in Palace Square, right in the middle of Brussels. The square becomes a giant dance floor for electronic music. Famous DJS from around the world will be playing music. 

One of the headliners is Fatboy Slim, a British DJ known for his popular songs like “Praise You” and “Right Here, Right Now.” The Magician, a DJ from Belgium who plays upbeat house music, will also be there. MYD, a French electronic artist with a pop style, will also perform. 

On Sunday, May 4, 2025, Warande Park in Brussels is hosting a festival with different areas for sports, culture, and science. Over 80 groups will be there, offering activities, workshops, and exhibitions. 

Officials mentioned that a special part of the event is the University Village, where UCL and EPHEC universities will show their educational programs and projects. There will also be dancing at the Kiosk in the park. They said that people can learn bachata and Cuban dances and join zumba sessions. 

For families, the festival includes a Kids Village with lots of fun activities for children. There will also be street theatre with live performances to watch. The Iris Market will be there, showcasing local products and crafts from Brussels.
