Officials mentioned that these teams made up of students and their teachers, worked hard to design, program, and build robots using Lego pieces to solve real-world problems.
How did Sint-Martinus triumph at the First Lego League?
According to Jonas De Raeve from Voka Limburg, the First Lego League Belux Championship is important because it helps young people learn about science, technology, engineering, and math. Voka wants to help young people who are interested in STEM.
He mentioned that Limburg hosted the finals this year because they wanted to give the students a fun and exciting place to compete. The teams who competed wanted to win the national championship and then go on to compete in the international championship.
The students from Sint-Martinus in Herk-de-Stad won 2 awards at the First Lego League regional finals in Leuven. They won the Best Robot Performance Award because their robot scored the most points. They also won the Champion’s Award because their project about coral conservation impressed the judges.
According to the officials, the students were very happy to win the First Lego League competition. They worked hard for a long time to get ready for it. The team captain, Lennert Hermans, said he couldn’t believe they won. He mentioned that the students were excited to celebrate their victory with a party. They are now going to compete in the next round of the competition.

We won the Robot Award because we scored the most points in the robot game. And then of course the Champions Award for first place
