Anderlecht (Brussels Morning Newspaper) – The Brussels municipality of Anderlecht experienced another shoot-out near the Sint-Guido metro station when gunfire rang out late in the evening last night. During the shooting incident, one person received an injury on their leg.

A shooting took place near Sint-Guido metro station in the Brussels area of Anderlecht during last night’s evening. During the incident, a single person received a leg wound before the attacker escaped on an electric scooter. Medical staff stabilized the conscious victim, after which authorities questioned the survivor while medical personnel treated them. Six shootings have occurred in Anderlecht during the last two weeks, which has caused growing concerns about increasing area violence.

The investigation shows only one round was discharged by the shooter. The injured victim escaped from the area after the shooting occurred. Investigators have yet to establish a reason behind the attack. Another shooting took place around the same metro station from Sunday to Monday without claiming any casualties. Law enforcement authorities stepped up their efforts to combat community tensions as the repeating violence continued to worsen in the area.

What is the background of violence in Anderlecht?

Anderlecht serves as a municipality within Brussels where drug-related violence produces frequent shooting incidents. Six shooting occurrences were recorded in the past two weeks while the Sint-Guido metro station became the most targeted area. The situation grew more severe after Brussels experienced two fatal casualties along with four injured persons during similar attacks this month.

Local law enforcement officials commonly connect such violent incidents to drugs since drugs dominate the area. Recently, the Sint-Guido metro station experienced several shootings, and one of these incidents occurred only days before the most recent event.
