‘Tot Slot’ is the new youth center in Tienen, named to honor a former locksmith and to signify the long wait for its opening. On All Saints’ Day, the center will welcome young people for the first time with live music and activities for all ages. Van Hemelryck emphasizes that the center aims to be a vibrant space for youth, encouraging input on events like darts tournaments and FIFA matches, as well as hosting parties for youth groups.

What activities will youth choose at Tienen’s new ‘Tot Slot’ center?

Young people will choose the activities at the new youth center, ‘Tot Slot.’ Van Hemelryck says the older board members want to listen to the youth first. The center is open for everyone to hang out and play board games. He thinks it’s great that Tienen has a youth center again after 10 years and believes every town should have one, wondering why it took so long to open.

The youth in Tienen can visit ‘Tot Slot’ on Wednesday afternoons, Friday after school, and Saturday. The center is near the Grote Mark, and the founders are happy with the spot after a long search. Six young people started the non-profit organization ‘Tot Slot’: Jef Van Hemelryck, Tuur Bolleire, Kenneth Vinamont, Jarno Vrancken, Jonas Verstraeten, and Sara Vandeput.
