Leuven (Brussels Morning Newspaper): The Hagelandse 101 will celebrate its 5th edition on September 5-6, 2025. It will feature routes of 106 km and 60 km. Organizers Jo Langela and Tony aim to increase the number of participants from 3,000 to 5,000.

The Hagelandse 101, a popular walking trail, will celebrate its 5th edition next year. This event takes participants from Leuven through the Hageland region to the pilgrimage town of Scherpenheuvel-Zichem. Organizers Jo Langela and Tony are planning a special festive edition to mark this milestone.

What unique experiences can participants expect at the 2025 Hagelandse 101 in Leuven?

In 2025, Jo and Tony will both turn 55, and they are highlighting the theme of “5” for the Hagelandse 101 event. Registration will open on November 1 at exactly 9:05 AM, reflecting this theme. To celebrate the anniversary, the organizers plan to create a memorable experience with fun activities and surprises related to the number 5 along the trail.

Next year, the Hagelandse 101 route will be longer, increasing from 101 kilometers to 106 kilometers, while the shorter route will go from 55 to 60 kilometers. Organizers plan to raise the number of participants from 3,000 to 5,000. A major change is that walkers will have support during the last 25 kilometers with “buddies” who will walk alongside them.
