Bruges (The Brussels Morning Newspaper): On 24th September at 7 PM, a fire broke out in a house on Verse-Vaartstraat, damaging it badly. Four residents, including a woman now in custody, escaped safely. Authorities are investigating the cause, and the community is helping those affected.

On 24th September Tuesday evening around 7:00 PM, a fire broke out in a house on Verse-Vaartstraat, causing a lot of damage. The fire brigade arrived quickly after being called and worked hard to control the fire, preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings. However, the house was badly damaged and was deemed uninhabitable. Authorities are still looking into what caused the fire, but no one was hurt.

What led to the fire on Verse-Vaartstraat?

The residents of the house are now dealing with the difficulty of finding a temporary place to stay since it will take time to repair the damage and assess what needs to be fixed. Neighbors and local authorities have revealed that the fire didn’t spread to other buildings, which is credited to the quick response of the fire brigade. However, the emotional impact and the loss of their belongings are still very significant for the people who lived there. The local community has already started offering support to help the displaced residents during this tough time.

No injuries were reported in the fire. Inside the house at the time were two men, aged 30 and 38, a woman, and a dog. All four got out safely before the fire spread, so no one was harmed. After the fire was controlled and the situation was safe, the three people were taken in for questioning by the authorities to learn more about what happened.

The authorities decided to keep only the woman in custody for now. They haven’t shared the details about why she was detained, but the investigation is still ongoing. The two men were released without any further action. Meanwhile, the woman’s situation is still being looked into as investigators try to find out what led to the fire. She is scheduled to appear before the investigating judge on 26th September.
