EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrell voices horror at a deadly strike by Israel on a school housing displaced people in Gaza. He said: “Horrified by images from a sheltering school in Gaza hit by an Israeli strike, with/ reportedly dozens of Palestinian victims. At least 10 schools were targeted in the last weeks. There’s no justification for these massacres, We are dismayed by the terrible overall death toll.”
“Over 40,000 Palestinians have been killed since the beginning of the war. We regret & condemn Minister Smotrich’s opposition – against the interest of the Israeli people – to a deal. A ceasefire is the only way to stop the killing of civilians and secure the hostages’ release.”
How many Palestinians were killed in the recent strike?
Around 93 Palestinians died in an Israeli strike on a school and mosque in Gaza harbouring displaced people, according to local officials. Gaza Civil Defense stated people were fulfilling dawn prayers at the Al-Tabi’in compound in the Al-Daraj area in the eastern part of Gaza City when it was shot overnight. Israel verified it carried out the strike, saying Hamas was working there.
“We recovered at least 90 people who had been killed,” Gaza Civil Defense Spokesperson Mahmoud Basal said, adding that “many of them are torn apart, many are still unknown.”
Videos noticed by CNN of the aftermath of the walkout show a large number of bodies scattered on the ground. Witnesses stated there was no warning of the attack. “All of these people who were targeted were civilians, unarmed children, the old, men and women,” stated Fares Afana, director of ambulance and emergency in northern Gaza. “These were naive people praying… where is the entire world?” stated one man, who lost his daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren in the strike.
