Hasselt (The Brussels Morning Nespaper): Futurn has transformed the former Coca-Cola site in Hasselt, Belgium into a mixed-use space with 15 business units and room for larger companies. The project revitalizes the area enhancing local economic opportunities and offering modern office environments.

Coca-Cola’s place in Hasselt, Belgium where they stored drinks shut down in 2020. After it closed a company called Futurn decided to change the place. They wanted to build a new store or office building there. Just before the big break for construction workers in late July in Belgium most of the new offices were ready. They made a lot of progress in building and the offices were almost ready for companies to move in. The new building is a good place for businesses to set up and bringing new life to the old Coca-Cola site.

How has Futurn transformed the former Coca-Cola site in Hasselt?

Frederik Bart from Futurn said they finished the first part of changing the old Coca-Cola place in Hasselt. They made 15 small and medium-sized business spaces and also made room for a big company. They fixed up some of the old factory buildings and built new ones mixing the old style with new stuff. Futurn wanted to make different kinds of offices that could work for all types of businesses. They used some of the old factory and built new stuff to give smaller and bigger companies modern and useful places to work.It has been said that finishing this part is a big deal as it helps bring life back to the area giving local businesses new chances to grow and boosting the economy there.

What opportunities exist for businesses at the former Coca-Cola site?

Frederik Baert said there are still three empty shops up for grabs after they finished the first part of anging the place. Most of the people who already got their spaces are now busy decorating and setting up their insides. They said that this decorating step is super important because it gets the spaces ready for businesses to start working there. Once these businesses finish setting up inside they can start working in their new places. The empty units give more chances for other businesses to join in and help the area grow using the old Coca-Cola place in Hasselt in a new way.

In another part of the building some tenants have been there for a while but they are also getting a makeover. “We talked with most tenants to improve their spaces,” Baert said. So that area will soon have a whole new look and vibe. The site is on a big 4.5-hectare area and part of it is still empty next to the canal. The developer is really excited about this part calling it the best in the whole project. It’s a 1-hectare spot right by the canal and a bike path. Companies can buy spaces between 500 and 2,000 m2 there. With how important moving around is nowadays having that bike path there is a big plus.
